Excerpt from Contemporary Illuminated Manuscripts by Diane George: My work is inspired by early Medieval and late Bronze Age/early Iron Age art. Together, these traditions are commonly known as Celtic art. The Book of Kells and the Lindisfarne Gospels are the most celebrated examples of this style. In 2004, I completed an illuminated manuscript of the Gospel of Thomas after the style of these manuscripts.
